Subject: 2024 Grain Season Memo
To ensure that all products being purchased and sold by Pritts Feed Mills Inc meet quality and regulatory standards, we want to make sure our policies are recognized. We understand the importance of your time and for the 2024 Grain Season we plan to do things a little differently.
-
Products –
-
Small Grains will continue to be dumped in the pit.
-
Corn and Soybeans will be dumped in the commodity bays unless otherwise noted.
-
-
Schedule –
-
We will set weekly dumping hours that can be accessed by calling the mill at 724-547-2525 or visiting our Facebook page. We will work with you as much as possible.
-
-
Protocol –
-
Before dumping, have your truck weighed and grain tested.
-
While waiting, please ensure we have your updated contact information and a signed copy of our 2024 Grain Season memo.
-
Once tested, the weigh master will direct you to the dumping area.
-
After emptied, please make sure you weigh out and take your ticket from the weigh master.
-
-
Deductions –
-
If you sold small grains this season, you will notice we started a new system which shows all deductions including shrinkage and drying. We will continue to do so which ensures a clear practice to all farmers.
-
-
Pricing –
-
We try very hard to remain competitive with our prices. As a rule of thumb we look at the current market minus trucking costs.
-
Stop in or contact the mill for current prices. Remember prices may fluctuate according to the daily market.
-
-
Storage –
-
12 cents per bushel per month will be taken off the grain total. If you have custom feed ground/made that month, we will NOT be charging the storage fee.
-
-
Processing and Handling –
-
IN - 5 cents per bushel
-
OUT - 10 cents per bushel (if you are selling your commodity to us, you will NOT be charged the out fee)

Subject: 2024 Grain Season Memo – Common Questions
-
Do I need to call before EVERY load?
-
No, we will set weekly dumping hours that can be accessed by calling the mill at 724-547-2525 or visiting our Facebook page.
-
-
How do you set pricing?
-
We try very hard to remain competitive with our prices. As a rule of thumb, we look at the current market minus trucking costs (typically around 60 cents).
-
Remember prices may fluctuate according to the daily market. We will post prices as they change on our website and Facebook page. Or you may always call the mill.
-
-
Why is there a charge for storage?
-
The 12 cents per bushel per month was set by Willy (Pritts Feed Mills Inc) many years ago. The large RED signs have been posted in the scale house and grainery.
-
If you have custom feed ground/made that month, we will NOT be charging the storage fee.
-
-
Why is there added processing and handling?
-
This is nothing new. If you worked with Willy (Pritts Feed Mills Inc) in the past, he included the same deductions. All we are doing is breaking out the fees on your grain receiving report for accounting purposes.
-
-
Will there still be drying charges?
-
Yes. If you worked with Willy (Pritts Feed Mills Inc) in the past, he included the same deductions/charges. All we are doing is breaking out the fees on your grain receiving report for accounting purposes.
-
-
Will there still be shrinkage?
-
Yes. If you worked with Willy (Pritts Feed Mills Inc) in the past, he included the same deductions/charges. All we are doing is breaking out the fees for accounting purposes. We also include a copy of the shrinkage schedule with your grain receiving report.
